Hydrokinetic Turbine Research for Remote Alaskan Communities
Location: Alaska, USA
Date: 2024 - Present

Project Summary
Chris Manna is leading exploratory research into the potential of small-scale hydrokinetic turbines as a renewable energy solution for remote, off-grid communities. His work has focused on conducting preliminary market research to evaluate existing technologies and their limitations in tidal and riverine environments.
Based on this research, he developed initial design concepts aimed at overcoming key deployment challenges such as transportability, cost, and modularity. The project supports broader efforts to develop sustainable and accessible clean energy systems in rural Alaska.

Project Deliverables:
-
Review of existing hydrokinetic turbine systems
-
Identification of key design and deployment constraints
-
Initial design concepts for a modular, low-cost turbine
